I am so sorry it took me a few days to update you all on what went on with A at the doctors office on Monday. First of all the news was not what we were expecting. We thought we were going for a surgery consultation and came out confused and sad. We had been told by our local doctor that the eye had improved and that we could move forward on plans for surgery. The surgeon doesn't think the eye has improved much at all and she thinks that it should have improved much more than what it has. So now instead of patching 4-6 hrs per day she recommended that we patch for 8-10. This was very sad news for us. We thought that we could see a light at the end of the tunnel. This longer patching time means that A will have to wear her patch to her preschool (she goes 3 days a week for 4 hours), something she had never done before. We go back to a local doctor in 3 weeks just to "check" to see if this longer patching time has made any progress, then we will go back to the surgeon at the end of September to get her assessment. The hope is that with the aggressive patching time we can see a big improvement in a short amount of time. The surgeon hopes that at the end of 6 weeks we can scale the patching back to 4-6hrs per day. The good news is that she really believes that this aggressive patching will work so well that A may not even need surgery to correct her lazy eye.
Thank you so much for all your prayers. Please continue to pray for the healing of her eye. She is doing good with the longer patching so far but I think it is just a matter of time before it gets old. Pray for patience for her and for us during this time. I appreciate each and every one of you so much!

you all are in our prayers! it's all going to work out for the best, god has a plan for little A and we pray that she will not have to have surgery after all. we love you all!!!
Awww....sorry it wasn't the news you wanted to hear...but like AR said..God has a plan...and it just might be to not have her go through surgery:) I thought about you and A the other day...I was dropping K off at school and a little girl was walking into school with a patch on her eye...it looked just like A's. She looked like she might be in the Pre-K program at K's school. I will keep you all in my prayers and thanks for updating!
What AR and jkw said....maybe no surgery at all. I know it must be tough on all of you. I couldn't image trying to make my C do something he didn't want to do or didn't like for that length of time.....he is very strong willed (and we can't figure out where he gets it...hmmm) Sending prayers your way!
Have faith and I hope everything works out the way you hope it will. It sounds like A is a good sport and I am sure she will be fine at preschool. Best of luck to all of you......you are in our prayers!!
Sorry it wasn't the news you hoped for; still hoping it works out well in the end. Hang in there.
I am sorry to hear the eye news. I feel like I "know" you-- I feel like a freak typing that! I found your blog two nights ago and I could not wait to finish reading the whole thing. I have been doing the SAME thing as you but since July 17, 2008. I found this blog http://www.self.com/health/blogs/eatlikeme
and I threw away EVERYTHING we ate teh was bad and basically started over. I feel so much better (I have three kids 5,3 and 4 months) I have always gained a lot during my pregnancies and this time I did pretty good and I only have 9 pounds left to lose which is unheard of for me! Ok sorry to ramble I wanted to share the Self blog and tell you Thank you!!! I love reading your posts.
I will keep praying for y'all! For the doc to say that surgery may not be necessary sounds very promising :)
