Monday!

Good Morning! You guys were quite chatty over the weekend! I have to say that I am enjoying all of this fellowship with fellow runners (walkers/swimmers/cyclists) and bookworms. If you have a book you are just in love with let us know about it. I could always use a good suggestion! So in keeping with that spirit ( and because I want today to include something for everyone) I want to give you a list of some of my favorite books.

"I know This Much Is True" by Wally Lamb. My favorite book. 901 pages. I read it in 2 days. Of course it was before I had children, but still. I could not put it down. I cried, I laughed. Sheer brilliance. I also enjoyed "She's Come Undone" by Mr. Lamb as well. He has just come out with a new novel called "The Hour I First Believed" that I can't wait to read. I hope it is as good as his previous works.

"A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. Wonderful. This book was recommended to me by Junebug who is a true bookworm. She often reads more than one book at a time, something I just can't get my brain around! Anyhow, this book is about the life of a poor girl during turn-of-the-century Brooklyn. Truly inspiring and heart-breaking all at the same time.

"The Tale of Despereaux" by Kate DiCamillo. I bought this book for EC and I to read together and ended up finishing it myself in one night. Enchanting, brilliant, fantastic! Don't go see the movie though, it was horrid. EC was on the edge of her seat while I read this to her. Its about a mouse, a princess, a rat, a spoon of thread and soup. Yes, soup. Warning though, it tends to have a dark side to it and it talks about death. I would not read this to a child under the age of 7 and especially to a child who might have trouble sleeping.

"The Memory Keepers Daughter" by Kim Edwards. Rarely have I read a book where I loved each of the characters and could see each of their points of view. I understood the decisions they made even if I didn't agree with them. This book deals with the decisions you make and how the they can affect the rest of your life. The movie was terrible though.

"Nights in Rodathe" by Nicholas Sparks. After all these years and a ton of books, I am still in awe of how a man can write such a fabulous love story. This man also wrote "The Notebook" and even if you haven't read that book (I haven't either) and just seen the movie, it is hard to believe that that story was written by a man. I cried when I read Nights in Rodanthe. It is wonderful. The movie was good too and it kept very closely with the book.

Okay, so what are your favorite books and why? If you decide to post them on your blog, leave a comment and let us all know so we can read it.

And yes, I do have a menu plan but I will post that later! Kisses!

Well, I've already read all those you recommended. AND I'm in the middle of the new Wally Lamb book. Just for the record, I LOVED I Know This Much Is True but I HATED She's Come Undone.

Also, I just got home from the gym. I did 9.5 combined miles. Yay for me!!

What a coincidence! I just happen to have a "book meme" posted over at my place today.

Please let me know what I need to do to log my miles (laps) and my books. I've read three this year so far!

I have heard the names of these books floating about. I can't wait to be done with school so I can CHOOSE what to read again! Currently I am reading "How To Talk to your Kids About Sex".....yeah--that's fun :P.

Just had to stop in and say THANK YOU for the sweet comments about my pictures. I sure appreciated them!
